The Fall around here is filled with tons of "Fall Festivals" at the various farms that you wouldn't believe existed in this Suburban Wonderland! Many places in the greater DC area were fairly recently developed, so you don't have to go too far out of town to find beautiful "rural" areas with large farms! This year, we visited the Cox Farms Festival, for which I got discounted tickets from Certifikid! Yay for a deal!
There were lots of farm animals:
And larger than life animals. Cora was totally into these guys until they came a little too close.
Cora, having farm girl blood, was totally at home and having the time of her life!
Our friends, the Van Emburgh's came with us with their son, Griffin. He and Cora are buds. We took a very long, but fun hay ride through the "haunted forest".
And then there were the slides. This particular slide, was a fan favorite. We ultimately named it Danger Mountain....
...because this is what happens if you let your toddler go down it by herself one time too many...Fat lip Tough girl.
After the lip busting incident, we had some gross lunch and headed to the for real toddler area where it was less likely one could roll face first down a steep incline.
Cora's getting taller and taller! Thanks to Pete for acting a fool and getting Cora to smile big!
Of course, you can't have a Fall Festival without apples and cider. Cora and Andy enjoyed their apples immensely.
After one final ride down a perilously steep slide with the kiddos (you can see Pete's and my heads peering over one of the slopes) we decided to call it a day, picked up our free little pumpkins and headed back to more urban environs. Fun times!
