I'd have to say that Cora's First Easter was a successful one, filled with lots of socializing and good food.
On Easter Eve, we went to Elizabeth, Emmett, and Rob's house for a brunch. Elizabeth put on quite a shindig, complete with an egg hunt for children of many ages! At this point, Cora isn't all that into hunting eggs, but she had a good time regardless. She got to flirt with her Republican friend, Joey, who is Emmett's neighbor. Then she whomped him one in the face.
She also enjoyed hovering around the older kids eggs and freaking them out because they thought she was going to take them. I got a good laugh out of that situation. The kid in the plaid shirt (at least ten years old) was seriously worried that the 1 year old crawler was going to take all his plastic Easter eggs which were filled with girly bracelets, rings, and pieces of chocolate.
I made a trifle for the occasion. And it was good.
Most of all, though, Cora enjoyed hanging out with her BFF, Emmett. They discussed things such as Easter eggs and smocked outfits.
On Easter day, we had a lovely lunch with our friends, the Faupel-Fonzes! Cora gets much glee out of cats these days and tortured their cat, Cleo, for a little while. Lucky for Cora, Cleo didn't whomp her one.
Cora's friend, Abby, is getting big just like Cora is, and we all sat at the dinner table together! Abby was super excited about the delicious salad that we brought as a contribution to the fabulous lunch.
Jack, who Cora also was flirting with, was kind enough to let her play with his new light saber. Andy got all teary eyed. Nerd.
It was a beautiful day out, so we posed for some pictures and then nearly face planted into a pile of poop. In the words of Joey Fonze, it was a Pooptastrophie!!
I don't think these following pictures were actually taken on Easter, but it was sometime around the same time period.
I'm so glad that we've made such nice friends here in Northern VA, who invite us into their homes and have such sweet kids! It's best to spend holidays with family, but when that isn't an option, spending it with friends is a great alternative!
