Cora Goes to the Beach!!

At the end of June, Cora got to meet a very important person in her life: her great grandmother!! She and Granny bonded over a bottle and spent a couple hours visiting. We were sad to take her away, but luckily she got to visit even more recently!

From there, we went to the Hoefer's in Sumter for a night before heading to the beach!
Andy celebrated his first Father's Day, which Cora slept through. She represented with her daddy shirt, though.
We got to see her christening dress, which was her great grandfather's (my Grandpa's) when he was a wee little baby. Her Aunt Claire wore it at her christening too! I was christened (almost not) when I was like five or something, so I didn't quite fit into it. Anyway, it is an absolutely beautiful gown!! And extra special to me! Cora modeled it and looked fabulous.
In the same theme of modeling, here is Cora modeling her beach ware madras dress and cap. She's frat-tastic!! The hat doesn't quite fit her, but it will long after she's grown out of the adorable dress!
Look closely...
Of course, the dogs joined us for the vacation! We have left them with my parents in Louisiana for a few months since we can't have them at our new place, so we weren't going to not take them to the beach with us for one last hurrah!!

Crabbing utensils. Well utilized on this trip.
Moose was obsessed with the crabs. And with the crab bait. And with anything that swam or flew by in the creek. Lucky for us, he didn't jump in.

On the first evening of crabbing, I caught our only three crabs. TWO were caught at one time! I am a crabbing master, having trained for many years off of the dock at The Villas in Nags Head.
Lucy was not a fan of being on the dock with us. So she waited at the end.
Uncle Paul and Adrienne joined us soon after we arrived! It was so fun having everyone there!! And Adrienne went running with me, which gets her super stud points.
Stud points were also earned by Adrienne and Paul for their crabbing efforts. They are hard core. But we just couldn't seem to get out there at a time when the water was high enough.

Cora's Papa can make her laugh like no other!
More crabbing. This is the most hard core. The tide was WAY too out to be crabbing, but that's how we roll. Paul climbed down into the muck to retrieve crabs that we got on our string. We weren't certain he'd be able to climb back up.

On one of our last days, we visited the big Frog. Cora was not impressed, but she'll just have to get used to posing with big metal things with me for the rest of her life.
And, of course, Cora met more friends and family! Lessie drove over to meet her and brought her some sweet gifts, including a silver spoon!
Cousin Jessica came by to visit too! It's wonderful meeting friends and family!
Even though it was hot as hell at the beach that week, we had a great time and I can't wait to go back again some day soon! Maybe when it's cooler!

Oh yeah, and all that crabbing we did? It totally paid off. Anthony made crab dip and some other delicious crab concoction with all the crabs we caught and it was awesome. As I think I've heard my dad say, "patience is a virtue."
