Runnin' To New Orleans

HOORAY! A couple weekends ago, we went down to New Orleans to run in the Rock-N-Roll Mardi Gras Marathon/Half marathon (we did the half) and visit with family! It was wonderful!
This was Cora's first trip to New Orleans and she enjoyed every second of it. One her favorite places to hang out was in the courtyard of our hotel. After we got into town, the Shug came and met up with us.
The Shug became a fast favorite of Cora's as she gave her keys to play with (as opposed to putting rocks and cigarette butt in her mouth.)
Eventually, LaLa and Grandpa showed up and the celebration of us all began!

Cora quite enjoyed playing on the comfy bed in our slightly sketchy hotel room. Well, I guess it was more the bathroom that was slightly sketchy...

Lucky for us, Jane (about 6 months pregnant and looking beautiful!) and Jeff were staying at the same hotel, so we got to spend a lot of time with them! Jeff was running the half marathon for the first time! Yay Jeff!
Another first: beignets!!!
And it was good.

The Baustians came for the day to visit with us, so Cora could see her boyfriend, Louis! Of course, she was overtired when he came by, so she was a bit cranky with him.
Of course, we hung out in the best place, the courtyard. Louis showed off his mad walking skills and he and Cora shared water bottles and germs.

Cora even got a ride on Grandpa's shoulders! I don't know if she's ever ridden on her Daddy's shoulders, but she hasn't on mine, so I count this as another first!
After the Baustian's left, Cora crashed in her posh bed. She actually had a crib provided by the hotel, but our bed was so comfy and heavenly soft to a very sleepy person...
Another special visit we had was with Elly and Peter! They were celebrating what sounded like an awesome Valentines day weekend of treating themselves to wonderful things and stopped by for a visit with us before their dinner.
Sunday was the big race! Dad and Jane were our super babysitters and kept Cora until we met up after we ran. Andy and I both had our best times ever, so we were proud! Ann did awesome, and Mom ended up run/walking and placed 9th in her age group!! (She had planned on just walking it, so that's impressive!)

It was a perfect day for a race and we had a good time afterwards hanging out at the "V for Vicksburg" meet up area! Cora was having a ball. Her hat was MIA, so I fashioned a do-rag for her out of a burp cloth and she rocked it.

"Yeah, this is my metal. I won it for Cutest Baby at the Race."
There were dogs all over the place and Cora was so excited! She apparently missed her doggies! This one dog stopped to visit with us for a little while. He was sweet but the Shug and I decided that his owner was an idiot.
"Come back, dog!!"

Again, Ann proved to be Cora's favorite person of the day. She's just so funny!!
The race finishers!! Plus half of Dad's head.

Fart Noises = universally funny.
The afternoon of the race day, Jessica came to visit us! She's also about 6 months pregnant and looking beautiful! I'm so lucky to have such nice friends who will drive an hour to come and visit me!
Another first: cheese peanut butter cracker. They were a fan favorite.

And first Ritz cracker.
Our last day in New Orleans was spent walking around the city with the Shug, eating more, and overall having a lovely time!

We hit the Napoleon House for lunch and an always refreshing Pims Cup...

And it was good.
